Beautiful World ~ Mother Gaia

Breathtaking , stunningly beautiful video of our Mother Earth!

Two wonderful videos to revitalize the soul & spirit on this sunny Sunday Morning.

A reminder of why we need to do as much as we can individually to help save our Mother Earth

“What befalls the earth befalls all the sons of the earth.

This we know: the earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth.

All things are connected like the blood that unites us all.

Man does not weave this web of life.

He is merely a strand of it.

Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself.”

~ Chief Seattle (1786-1866)

Solstice, Silk & Pendulums

The candle is lit, the house has been smudged and I begin my day sitting here looking out my window watching a crow searching for goodies in my neighbor’s flower pots on her balcony. He has found something large and shiny! Now he is strutting back and forth across the balcony railing with his treasure secured in his beak. What a character he is. lol

I celebrated Summer solstice by spending some time out in nature reconnecting with mother earth, listening to the wind moving through the Oak trees, breathing in the fragrance of  wildflowers and letting the music of birdsong flow over me. Needless to say, I came back home feeling totally refreshed and rejuvenated.

Lately, I have been so busy designing and creating new pendulums, and also downloading my art to my gallery site that  suddenly, I found myself a little overwhelmed and exhausted. Don’t get me  wrong,  I love being in the creative mode! I love my life and what I do, but sometimes I get carried away. I need to be kinder to my body.

The redesign of my newest pendulums started when I decided to incorporate natural fibers into my creations. I started thinking about all the different ways in which this could be done and came up with some interesting ideas. After making a few sketches and doing a little research I decided to use vintage silk , mainly because of it’s beauty, folklore, and strength.

In the near future I plan on incorporating other elements and fabrics into my jewelry designs. I found a stash of some beautiful antique fabrics  stored away in my chest of drawers along with an old silk sari and so much more. What a treasure trove!

Here are a couple of the pendulums I created using vintage silk, pearls, rose quartz, vintage abalone shell buttons and sterling silver wire. The Vintage Abalone Shell Buttons have words of inspiration written on them or images & words collaged onto them.

Silk is said to protect oneself  from negative energy, physical damage,  and outside vibrations. Silk also promotes abundance, strength, courage, and long life. The Goddess of silk making is Lei Tzu.

Earth Day

Here’s wishing you and your family a wonderful Earth Day.

“If we are “all creatures great and small,” from bacteria to whales, part of Gaia then we are all of us potentially important to her well being. We knew in our hearts that the destruction of a whole ranges of other species was wrong but now we know why. No longer can we merely regret the passing of one of the great whales, or the blue butterfly, nor even the smallpox virus. When we eliminate one of these from Earth, we may have destroyed a part of ourselves, for we also are a part of Gaia.

There are many possibilities for comfort as there are for dismay in contemplating the consequences of our membership in this great commonwealth of living things. It may be that one role we play is as the senses and nervous system for Gaia. Through our eyes she has for the first time seen her very fair face and in our minds become aware of herself. We do indeed belong here. The earth is more than just a home, it’s a living system and we are part of it.” – James Lovelock

Touching the Wind

Angel of the Ark

From the moment we are born we are blessed with the life-giving power of air. We breathe her in and she sustains us and every living  thing around us. Air also serves as a sacred messenger delivering information to all beings of the Earth.

The spirit of Gaia communicates with us through the air. Ask her a question about your life. Listen and feel her gentle breath flow around you and wait for sign, message or answer. Quietly observe everything around you. Be attentive to the feelings and perceptions that may ebb and flow through you.

When was the last time you reached out and touched the wind?

“Air is a matrix that joins all life together. . . . In everyday life we absorb atoms from the air that were once part of birds and trees and snakes and worms, because all aerobic forms of life share that same air. . . . The longer each of us lives, the greater likelihood that we will absorb atoms that were once part of Joan of Arc and Jesus Christ, of Neanderthal people and wooly mammoths. As we have breathed in our forebears, so our grandchildren and their grandchildren will take us in with their breath.” – David Suzuki

April’s Full Moon

Moon Dance

This month’s full moon is often referred to as Full Flower Moon, Seed Moon, Growing Moon, and Wind Moon. It’s a great time to celebrate new beginnings and also a time to stop planning, and start doing. Take all those ideas you’ve been thinking about and make them happen.

Plant your dreams and watch them grow . . .

“She leaned against the ancient stone archway and slowed her heartbeat, relaxing into the deep silence hovering over the ancient ruins.

Slowly the stones began to whisper and their voices turned into a dance of wind moving through the ancient ruins, swirling upwards as a mist began to rise from the stone floor. The curling mist moved towards her as she began to chant softly.

Beneath her the stones grew warm and glowed softly as the moon hung suspended overhead like a silver orb casting pools of light and shadow everywhere. She breathed in deeply opening herself to the power of the glowing stones. “Hear me ancestors of this place, I call to you to awaken from your deep sleep to dance with me beneath the light of the full moon,” she said. She turned and began to dance.”   . . .  Rose Arizmendi – The Deep Magic of Gaia
