I And The Mother Are One

I spent the afternoon at the Gem Faire picking up supplies that I needed. I always feel a little overwhelmed by all the bright lights and glittering beads ~ so much to see! When we exited the building there was a fine mist of rain falling ~ it felt refreshing and helped revive my energy.

Dusk, ever so softly draping itself over the landscape ~ remnants of a day evaporating ~ Stillness ~ Listening with  my heart.

And before I leave, here’s an inspirational video I found on YouTube.  ~ Blessings to all!

“Each woman has potential access to Rio Abajo Rio, this river beneath the river. She arrives there through deep meditation, dance, writing, painting, prayer making, singing, drumming, active imagination, or any activity which requires an intense altered consciousness. A woman arrives in this world-between worlds through yearning and by seeking something she can see just out of the corner of her eye. She arrives there by deeply creative acts, through intentional solitude, and by practice of any of the arts. And even with these well-crafted practices, much of what occurs in this ineffable world remains forever mysterious to us, for it breaks physical laws and rational laws as we know them. ~ Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Ph.D. ~ From her wonderful book, Women Who Run With the Wolves.

Gifts From Nature

I found these small gifts tucked safely away in my coat pocket ~ Gift’s from earth, sky and sea. A feather caught in my hair on one of my walks ~An Oak leaf with a tiny acorn from a favorite tree and a small treasure from my last visit to the ocean.

Later, as I was cleaning out an antique chest of drawers , I decided to try and find some information on the unusual drawer pulls. The only info I found was very limited. ~  Sigh . .

Aunt Margie purchased it at a garage sale in New York  in the early 40’s. Apparently, it had been painted over with several layers of bright green paint. Imagine her surprise to find cherry wood underneath all that paint.

Over the years, this old chest has become like an old friend with it’s worn edges and Victorian Green Man faces staring out from each drawer like little guardians protecting hidden treasures tucked away inside.  Such beauty & craftsmanship!

Autumn ~ So Peaceful ~ Mother Nature ~ Winding Down ~ A touch of frost in the air.

Before I go,  here is a sweet little video I found on You tube.

Autumn, and the lure of the season. A dance film working around poetry.

October Days

“Come said the wind to
the leaves one day,
Come o’re the meadows
and we will play.
Put on your dresses
scarlet and gold,
For summer is gone
and the days grow cold.”

Bella Gaia

BELLA GAIA ~ 5 min sample utilizing Visualizations by NASA, SCISS/Uniview, and music by Kenji Williams
What a magical combination ~ Mother Earth and the beautiful music of Kenji Williams. It shows the impact we are having on our beautiful, blue planet.

quote for the day;

” The new myth coming into being through the triple influence of quantum physics, depth psychology and ecology suggests that we are participants in a great cosmic web of life, each one of us indissolubly connected with all others through that invisible field. It is the most insidious of illusions to think that we can achieve a position of dominance in relation to nature, life or each other. In our essence, we are one.” ~Anne Baring

The Hidden Sky

I had to share this incredible video from “The Hidden Sky.”  It is based on the short story “The Masters” by Ursula K. Le Guin. Music and lyrics by Peter Foley ~ directed by Kate Chisholm. ~ Simply Beautiful!

“Science and religion collide in this sophisticated and mythic new musical. At the center of the conflict is Ganil, a young woman whose passionate longing for knowledge leads her on a dangerous journey in pursuit of lost and forbidden truths. With an eclectic score featuring lush choral singing, this compelling tale of spiritual awakening illuminates the complex dialogue between faith and reason.”

quote for the day;  “Our creativity is compost for the Earth”, the highest and best of what we are, feeding the planetary mind and creating fertile soil for those to come.” ~ Rachel Rosenthal

Rain ~ Mind ~ Spirit

Today, the rain washed  over me ~ washed me clean ~ refreshing my mind and spirit.

A light misty rain all day with heavy clouds so near I could reach up and touch them ~ There were brief moments when the sun tried to break through, but the sky quickly swallowed it up again. Sigh … It was definitely a two pot of coffee kind of day!

Earlier, I took a photo of this huge bramble bush near our home and wondered how many small creatures make their home there, in the dense, thick, tangle of brambles! A reminder that I need only to look ~ to find enchantment.

Watching ~ Reflecting ~ Observing how the changing seasons flow over and through me ~The spiral turns once again ~ And as always, I find that nature is my  guide and ultimate teacher.

GREETING

Over the wave-patterned sea floor,
Over the long sun-burnt ridge of the world,
I bid the winds seek you
I bid them cry to you
Night and morning
A name you loved once;
I bid them bring to you
Reed songs, and songs of the small birds –
and sleep.
