Solstice, Silk & Pendulums

The candle is lit, the house has been smudged and I begin my day sitting here looking out my window watching a crow searching for goodies in my neighbor’s flower pots on her balcony. He has found something large and shiny! Now he is strutting back and forth across the balcony railing with his treasure secured in his beak. What a character he is. lol

I celebrated Summer solstice by spending some time out in nature reconnecting with mother earth, listening to the wind moving through the Oak trees, breathing in the fragrance of  wildflowers and letting the music of birdsong flow over me. Needless to say, I came back home feeling totally refreshed and rejuvenated.

Lately, I have been so busy designing and creating new pendulums, and also downloading my art to my gallery site that  suddenly, I found myself a little overwhelmed and exhausted. Don’t get me  wrong,  I love being in the creative mode! I love my life and what I do, but sometimes I get carried away. I need to be kinder to my body.

The redesign of my newest pendulums started when I decided to incorporate natural fibers into my creations. I started thinking about all the different ways in which this could be done and came up with some interesting ideas. After making a few sketches and doing a little research I decided to use vintage silk , mainly because of it’s beauty, folklore, and strength.

In the near future I plan on incorporating other elements and fabrics into my jewelry designs. I found a stash of some beautiful antique fabrics  stored away in my chest of drawers along with an old silk sari and so much more. What a treasure trove!

Here are a couple of the pendulums I created using vintage silk, pearls, rose quartz, vintage abalone shell buttons and sterling silver wire. The Vintage Abalone Shell Buttons have words of inspiration written on them or images & words collaged onto them.

Healing Altar

This morning I noticed our Healing Altar needed a little tender loving care so I cleared off the tabletop, smudged the altar, washed the crystals with white sage water, and proceeded to wipe down the Kuan Yin statue with rose water.

Next, I added  fresh lavender to a pretty bag and placed the vogel crystal and Amethyst crystal on it, along with a small piece of Kyanite which helps clear the crystals after a session. The crystal singing bowl, Tibetan bowl and the painting hanging above the Altar were also cleaned.

Here is where I do most of my Distant Reiki work for our families, friends and anyone in need. I place Reiki Prayer Packets  in the pyramid and send Reiki twice a day for those who have requested it, and keep the names in the Reiki pyramid or Reiki Box for a period of two weeks to a month.

Giving Reiki to others is what I love to do. For me Reiki is about unconditional love, healing and acceptance on all levels, and a beautiful gift we can share with everyone.

Weekly Card Reading

I did a reading for myself this morning and the three cards I picked were about love, living  & giving without  expectations, and the power or consequences of how our actions and choices may enhance someone’s life today.

I use these weekly readings as a way to connect with my inner guidance and to get a feel for the lay of the land before blindly heading into my work week.

Based on the cards I picked, these are my goals for the week;

  • I will  make the time to call or visit with a friend.
  • Share hugs with my loved ones and tell those I care about how much I love them
  • Smile and say hello to strangers.
  • Speak words to inspire and encourage others to reach for their hopes and dreams.
  • Take moon baths, giggle with children, play, listen to old people and believe in magic.
  • And most importantly do this without any expectation what-so-ever.

Full Moon in Sagittarius

Magic Moon – Digital painting

Tonight the full moon is in Sagittarius and I hope the clouds clear away enough to catch a glimpse of the moon.

It’ been raining all day and I have been catching up on some work which needed to be done asap.  I did find some spare time to whip out a small digital painting and it has been posted on my art blog.

Now it’s time to put on my Domestic Goddess hat and make dinner!

quotes for the day;

“If you can see your path laid out
in front of you step by step, you know
it’s not your path. Your own path you
make with every step you take. That’s
why it’s your path.” – Joseph Campbell

” When you see the earth from the moon, you don’t see any divisions there of nations or states. This might be the symbol, really, for the new mythology to come. That is the country that we are going to be celebrating. And those are the people that we are one with.” – Joseph Campbell

My Dear Friend & Me

To me, sharing a cup of tea or coffee with friends means warmth, comfort and great conversation.

Yesterday I had coffee with Elvira  and our conversation was mostly about friendship, everyday goddessing and sacred woo-woo. We had such a great time even though the weather was overcast and chilly. Next time,  I have to try the french toast extravaganza that Elvira had. Yummy!

This morning over tea with another friend, our conversation turned to the economy, the environment and the planet’s diminishing water supply. We also shared our  family stories, goals and hopes for the near future.

“Let us sit my friend and share a cup of tea
And talk of our dreams and the faraway places we want to see.
Let us dream together and explore all of life’s mysteries.
Just the two of us
my dear friend and me.” – Rose Arizmendi
