Balance & Perspective

It’s hard to believe that it has been three months since my last post. So much has happened since then.

Afternoon Light

Change can be very challenging at times especially when it involves residential and economic changes. We have moved out of our cute little house and will miss it sorely, especially the lovely garden we enjoyed over the past 12 years.

Although our new home is smaller, it is quieter and has many amenities that the old house didn’t have. The new place  has a dishwasher, washer & dryer and double paned windows. Love it!

Over the past few months I have chosen to view change as a beguiling invitation to a new and exciting adventure, rather than see it as a threatening and fearful situation that may get worse. One thing for sure there is always the opportunity and challenge to make things better.

Ah yes, and I give myself this pep talk every time I see the dark clouds of doubt and worry hovering on the horizon. These dark moments seem to come most often when I awake in the middle of the night and all the worries flood in, morphing into something much larger and darker than they are in the light of day.

It seems the night dresses our worst fears and worries into twisted, evil monsters which have no real substance. Thankfully, they take on a less sinister aspect once the sun comes up and our imagination isn’t in overdrive.

Balance and perspective is the key!

Quote For The Day;

‘It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power. – Alan Cohen

Finger Labyrinths

Finger Labyrinth

The finger labyrinth is a wonderful way to experience the healing and spiritual benefits of the labyrinth.

The portability and accessibility of these smaller versions of the labyrinth allow us to carry them wherever we go. Regardless of location, weather conditions, health or mobility issues.

I have used mine when traveling, waiting to see my doctor, and during those long stopovers between flights. They are wonderful, easy to carry and ready for use 24 hours a day.

Finger labyrinths have been around for centuries and some of these were said to be carved on rock walls and small stones. They were used to lead one to a deeper understanding of the self and a closer relationship with the divine.

Labyrinths can be used by everyone, regardless of their religious beliefs, traditions or background. They are a universal spiritual tool.

The three stages of the Labyrinth;

  • Releasing -Letting go of the details of your life. This is the act of releasing thoughts and distractions. A time to open the heart and quiet the mind.
  • Receiving – When you reach the center, stay there as long as you like. It is a place of meditation and prayer. Receive what is there for you to receive.
  • Returning – As you leave, following the same path out of the center as you came in, you enter the third stage, which is joining with the Divine, your Higher Power, or the healing forces at work in the world. Each time you walk the labyrinth you become more empowered to find and do the work you feel your soul reaching for.

I received my finger labyrinth as a gift several years ago and use it for relaxation and meditation. It was purchased from The Shop at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco.

I am also very fortunate to have a seven circuit labyrinth within walking distance of my home. I love it!

thought for the day;

” The great need of our time is for people to be connected to spirit; for people to be connected to a core of feeling in themselves that makes their lives vital and full of meaning, that makes life a mystery evermore to be uncovered.” – Harold Stone – Sandplay

Tools For Personal Healing

The Etheric Weaver

One of my favorite tools for personal healing is the Etheric Weaver. I purchased mine about nine years ago just after experiencing a full body Etheric Weaver treatment.

I have found the Etheric Weaver to be a wonderful addition to my Reiki practice and I use it often as part of my own personal healing regime .

However, I would like to also mention that you can do the same type of healing work with a pendulum or any other healing tool. The secret is to intend that your pendulum is a healing tool. It’s that simple!

Etheric Weavers are crystals ranging from 3.5″ to 7.5″ in length with two small magnets on either side, circled in copper wire with a chain attached to the top. The clear quartz crystals are wrapped in colored theatrical-light gel. Each color creates a specific frequency that resonates with the body and realigns the energy field in the etheric layer.

It’s very simple to use – simply hold it over anything or anyone, like a pendulum. For self healing you can suspend the Etheric Weaver about 3 to 6 inches above your left palm while holding the weaver with your right hand. Clear your mind and be very still. If the weaver starts to spin or move in any direction, hold it over that area until the movement stops.

The Etheric Weaver balances and aligns the whole meridian system, the chakras and heals blockages and rents in the etheric field.

Etheric weavers may also be used for personal healing, helping loved ones and friends, space clearings, pets, plants, long distance healing, meditation and awareness.

The Etheric Weavers are designed by H.H. Jetsun Gyalwa Jampa Gonpo and handcrafted by Western Buddhist monks and nuns.  Visit their website for more information.

Bees & Flowers

Bee in the garden

I photographed this busy little bee while I was on my morning walk today. I was admiring the flowers in my neighbors garden and noticed that there were bees everywhere.

I am so happy to see them! Without bees, we would experience worldwide famine and starvation. Bee populations have dwindled to a quarter or less of their previous numbers and insecticides are blamed for much of their decline.

So the next time you stop to admire all the beautiful flowers in bloom, or sweeten your tea with honey, give thanks to the bees.

thought for the day;

“Veiled in this fragile filigree of wax is the essence of sunshine, golden and limpid, tasting of grassy meadows, mountain wildflowers, lavishly blooming orange trees, or scrubby desert weeds. Honey, even more than wine, is a reflection of place. If the process of grape to glass is alchemy, then the trail from blossom to bottle is one of reflection. The nectar collected by the bee is the spirit and sap of the plant, its sweetest juice. Honey is the flower transmuted, its scent and beauty transformed into aroma and taste.”  – Stephanie Rosenbaum

Queen of May

May Roses

The May Queen is Waiting

“The new earth quickens as you rise.
The May Queen is waiting.
Feel the pulsing ground call you to journey,
To know the depths of your desire.
The May Queen is waiting.
Moving through the night, the bright moon’s flight.
In green and silver on the plain.
She waits for you to return again.
Do not keep Her waiting.
Her temper stings if you refuse to taste Her honey.
Surrender as enchantment brings
The first light of dawning.
Move with Her in sacred dance, through fear to feeling.
Bringing ecstasy to those who dare.
Living earth is breathing.
Loving through the night in the bright moonlight,
As seedlings open with the rain.
She’ll long for you to return again.
Do not keep Her waiting.”
